In a brief yet meaningful ceremony during the January 8 Monday flag-raising event, the Municipality of San Nicolas presented the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award for the Year 2023. This noteworthy achievement, formally received from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) last year in Manila, underscores the municipality’s steadfast commitment to governance excellence.
Mayor Alice, joined by Vice Mayor Alvin Bravo, municipal councilors and department heads, shared the accomplishment with the community. The handover of the SGLG marker, aside from the now-downloaded P1.8 million cash incentive, symbolized San Nicolas’ dedication to sound governance principles.
In her message, Mayor Alice thanked each and every personnel of the LGU and all the partners such as the San Nicolas Municipal Police Station, Bureau of Fire Protection, Department of Education, Sangguniang Kabataan, Liga ng mga Barangay and the civil society for through everyone’s hard work and commitment to excellence, San Nicolas was once again recognized by the DILG.
In the same flag raising ceremony, Mayor Alice and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) headed by Mr. Shallom Gideon Balolong presented the Gawad KALASAG Seal of Excellence to the people of San Nicolas. The awarding ceremony took place on December 27, 2023 in San Juan, La Union. MDRRMO was recognized for having been ranked as ‘Fully Compliant’ by garnering a 2.28 rating during the yearโs evaluation of Gawad KALASAG (Kalamidad at Sakuna Labanan, Sariling Galing ang Kaligtasan).
Further adding to San Nicolas’ accomplishments, the Legislative Council received accolades from the Philippine Councilors’ League last year, securing 2nd Runner-up positions for Most Outstanding Sagguniang Bayan (Pangasinan) and PCLympics Basketball (Sixth District of Pangasinan).
