To augment the fertilizer applied by farmers for rice production and to stabilize the rice supply in the country amid rising commercial fertilizer prices, the Department of Agriculture has distributed fertilizer support via voucher to disadvantaged farmers in San Nicolas as part of its National Rice Program.

3,778 farmers who planted crops during the 2024 wet cropping season have benefited from the said program and received a total of Php 12,044,201.20 through a one-time voucher, calculated based on their rice farm area.

Farmer-beneficiaries may claim their Urea fertilizers from partner merchants such as ALEYAS’s Farm and Poultry Supply and R.R. Rodrigo’s Trading in San Nicolas, as well as UC Farmers, Cabais Agricultural Supply, and Panlilio Farm Supply in Tayug.

“This assistance is a significant help for farmers facing high input costs, allowing those with limited purchasing power to acquire the recommended amount of Urea for their rice fields,” Mayor Alice stated.

Meanwhile, Mayor Alice urged unregistered farmers to register with the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture, as it is a prerequisite for receiving assistance from the Department of Agriculture.
