Ever wanted to gaze up at the night sky and be mesmerized by the dancing lights of the Auroras? Worry no more! Our kailians from Alberta, Canada sent us their photos of one of the nature’s most spectacular shows, Aurora Borealis.

The Northern Lights have fascinated people for centuries, but there are some interesting facts about them you likely didn’t know.

โœจAristotle called them “jumping goats” while Galileo helped coin the term “aurora borealis” by describing them as the dawn of the north.

โœจThere is an old Aurora myth that whistling at the Northern Lights will make them dance or bring evil spirits down to earth and kidnap you or slice even your head off, so be cautious.

โœจThe most powerful geomagnetic storm in the past 20 years impacted Earth on the night of May 10-11, 2024, resulting in vibrant northern lights across Canada, the U.S. and Europe.

โœจNorwegian scientist Kristian Birkeland (1867โ€“1917) was the first to explain the source of the aurora and by his discovery a new field of science was createdโ€”the sunโ€“earth connection.

Kailian, soon enough, you will be able to see for yourself the Aurora Borealis and youโ€™ll be dazzled by the beauty of those swirling lights as they put on a spectacular display.
