About 2,800 bags of certified hybrid rice seeds were distributed to rice farmers of San Nicolas under the Masagana 200 Rice Program of the Department of Agriculture.
Mayor Alice mentioned that among the rice seed varieties that were distributed include SL 20H, PHB 79, LongPing 534, and Habilis (Bayer).
āIām thankful to the Regional Field Office 1 of the Department of Agriculture (DA RFO1), for providing us seeds. These bags of seeds will contribute in increasing our yield as San Nicolas has high-potential for competitiveness,ā the local chief executive said.
Farmer-beneficiaries are those listed in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) and in the Rice Seed Monitoring System (RSMS)
Each farmer receives seeds for wet cropping season 2023 and is entitled to a 15kgs/hectare of hybrid seeds depending on farm size.
According to the beneficiaries, this
Rice Program is very helpful as not every one of them can buy certified seeds due to its high cost.
