If you think the Senior Citizens group of the Municipality of San Nicolas has already made quite a difference in promoting the benefits for their ranks, we might be expecting more soon as they turn to make their organization a full-fledged Cooperative.
This developed as ๐๐๐ฒ๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ข๐ ๐. ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฆ๐ข๐๐ข๐๐ฌ-๐๐ง๐ซ๐ข๐ช๐ฎ๐๐ณ, who champions the development of the elderly, announced that with the help of the local government unit, the Senior Citizens of San Nicolas shall soon become a Cooperative registered with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).
If this happens, Mayor Alice said a load of support in form of grants and aids are expected to be benefited by the group because it will soon be easy for them to access support not only from the provincial government but also from the national government.
โIโd like to congratulate them, especially the officers,for taking the initiative to undergo a seminar which is a pre-requisite for their organization to be finally registered with the CDA. This is indeed a single big step. I can still vividly recall that sometime in 2020, naging beneficiary ang asosasyon nila ng DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP). Through this, nabigyan sila ng farm machineries na pwede nila ipa-rent and I know, for a fact, na hanggang ngayon ay successful ang livelihood project na ito kaya deserve nila maging Coop para mas mapalaki pa nila ang association at revenue nila through various projects that will benefit their entire membership base,โ Mayor Alice said.
โWhat I love about cooperative is that every member of the association is important and valued, individuality is respected, concern for the others are fostered, and that each and every member share in the decision-making which is a very powerful tool in the groupโs success. I really love to see this in the Senior Citizens Association of San Nicolas once theyโre already a Cooperative,โ she noted.
Relatedly, Mayor Alice expressed her gratitude and thanks to ๐๐ฌ. ๐๐ฒ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ณ๐จ, Provincial Cooperative Development Specialist, and ๐๐ฌ. ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ ๐๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐๐ฅ of DOLE Eastern Pangasinan Field Office for their efforts during the pre-registration seminar of the 22 officers of San Nicolas Senior Citizens Association.
In addition, Mayor Alice also acknowledged the efforts of PESO Manager ๐๐ญ๐ญ๐ฒ. ๐๐ก๐๐ซ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐ ๐. ๐๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ and Municipal Social Welfare Development Officer ๐๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ญ๐๐ in supporting the laudable activity.
