To stabilize the rice supply situation in the country despite challenges in the price of commercial fertilizers, Department of Agriculture (DA) has provided poor farmers in San Nicolas with fertilizer vouchers to boost rice production through the National Rice Program- Fertilizer Discount Voucher.
A whooping Php 9,877,518.80 will be distributed on February 1 and 2 at the Municipal Gymnasium and Municipal Auditorium, respectively, for farmer-beneficiaries with crops planted during dry cropping season 2023-2024.
Beneficiaries shall use the one-time fertilizer vouchers, which were computed based on the rice farm area, to claim fertilizers like Urea, Complete, Muriate of potash, and ammonium sulfate, at Aleya’s Agri Supply and RR Rodrigo Agri Supply.
โThis assistance is a big help for farmers considering the high cost of farm inputs such as fertilizer. It offers an alternative to farmers with lower purchasing power to buy a sufficient volume of fertilizer recommended for their rice area,โ said Mayor Alice.
Qualified beneficiaries for the program are rice farmers registered in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) and those who will be planting during the 2023-2024 dry cropping season.
In this line, Mayor Alice encouraged farmers to register with RSBSA since it is the first requirement for receiving assistance from DA.
