Recognizing the importance of protecting the forests for the well-being of the environment and society, the municipal government of San Nicolas beefed up its conservation efforts by teaming up with the Multi-Sectoral Forest Protection Committee organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) – Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO)
The move to amplify collective action and cooperation towards the common goal of safeguarding the forests for future generations was actively participated by Mayor Alice, citing three important strands to this effort: improving regulations, empowering forest communities, and fighting illegal logging and trade.
“Forests are vital for people, wildlife, and combating climate change, yet they are under serious threat. We are committed to preserving them,” the lady mayor said.
