Many individuals still do not have access to electricity. Those without it rely on candles and kerosene lamps for illumination.
“Our goal of advancing social and economic development relies on increasing access to energy,” stated the Local Chief Executive.
The San Nicolas local government runs its electrification program annually, with 120 beneficiaries this year, who attended an orientation seminar today.
In the said seminar, PANELCO III highlighted that only LGU San Nicolas has a self-funded electrification program within its area. “Only LGU San Nicolas can fund its own electrification initiative,” PANELCO III noted.
“It has always been my dream that every household in San Nicolas saan mang baryo at gaano man kalayo ay magkaroon ng access sa kuryente. Darating din sa punto na wala ni isang bahay ang walang kuryente dito sa ating bayan”, Mayor Alice said. “Ito ay aking mumunting tulong upang mapagaan ang buhay ng aking mga kababayan,” she added.
The lady mayor also noted that access to electricity enhances learning for students, enables farmers to properly store their crops for better production, and contributes to safer communities at night, ultimately improving the quality of life for residents.
The said orientation was graced by Mayor Alice herself together with Municipal Councilors Amor Pulido, Jun Serquiña, Jairus Dulay, and Pedrelito Bibat, as well as Mr. Rodelio Antolin (Institutional and Finance Division Supervisor), Engr. Peter Cesario (Power Use Inspector), and Mr. Jose Mari Desamino III (Consumer Welfare Assistance) from PANELCO III.
In the past five years (FY 2020-2024), a total of 650 recipients have benefitted from this program.
