San Nicolas was throbbing with excitement as the Mayor’s Cup 2025 Inter-Barangay Basketball Tournament officially kicked off with a grand ceremony that left sports aficionados and spectators inspired and eager for the games ahead.
The excitement promptly reached a crescendo during the Grand Parade, where San Nicolanian Basketball Stars, Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Councils, and Municipal Officials were accompanied by the vibrant Drum and Lyre Corps from various schools, including Sto. Tomas National High School, San Nicolas National High School, East Central Elem School, West Central School SPED Center, and Sta. Maria National High School.
The drum and lyre corps’ spirited performances added rhythm and energy to the parade, making it an unforgettable spectacle where San Nicolanians took the opportunity to have selfies with Mayor Alicia Primicias-Enriquez, Vice Mayor Alvin Bravo, and Sangguniang Bayan members.
“Sportsmanship, teamwork, and camaraderie are the pillars of Mayor’s Cup 2025. May this tournament foster friendships and inspire dreams as we are always committed to nurturing the potentials of San Nicolanian youths,” Mayor Alice said.
Cong. Marlyn “Len” Primicias-Agabas emphasized that basketball is indeed a powerful force that brings people together, teaches valuable life lessons, and uplifts our spirits. She reminded them to play with heart, respect their opponents, and embrace the true essence of sportsmanship.
A standout moment was the torch lighting ceremony, performed by Albert Marcial Alagano, the Finals MVP of 2024, ignitingthe competitive spirit among the teams and marked the official start of the tournament. Jeromel Cabontalla, the Season’s MVP of 2024, led the Oath of Sportsmanship, emphasizing the importance of fair play and respect among the competitors.
Mayor Alice then officially declared the opening of the Mayor’s Cup 2025, ushering in what promises to be an exhilarating and memorable season. The presentation of the muse added a touch of elegance and tradition to the event, rounding out the ceremony beautifully.
