The Local Government of San Nicolas held a blessing ceremony today for the two new ambulances, purchased using the government fund as part of the town’s bid to have its own Emergency Medical Services (EMS) unit. The blessing was led by Mayor Alicia Primicias-Enriquez and presided over by Rev. Fr. Noel Bulosan.

According to Mayor Alice, the LGU was left with only two ambulances when she assumed office. The town’s acquisition of the new ambulances form part of Mayor Alice’s vision of making emergency healthcare more accessible to all San Nicolanians.

“This is part of our disaster preparedness and response plan, to acquire emergency medical services unit that are meant to be used for free by San Nicolanians during medical emergencies and rescue operations”, she said.

“We would like to be of help in times of emergencies and be able to help communities who need transportation during emergency situations,” Mayor Alice added.

Mayor Alice is optimistic that with four vehicles available for emergency and disaster response, the town will be able to respond to community needs as situation requires. The ambulances are mostly utilized for emergencies in the town’s various communities and in ferrying sick people to hospitals outside Pangasinan for further treatment.
