It has been a busy day for Mayor Alice this Tuesday with various callers visiting the Municipal Hall, most notable of them are the officials of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) which gave her an overview of their ongoing programs and projects such as educational assistance for the indigenous students. NCIP is the agency of the national government responsible for protecting the rights of the indigenous peoples in the country.

Afterwhich, Mayor Alice visited Dalumpinas Elementary School which is this year’s winner as the “Most Improved School” on Brigada Eskwela.

Also during the day, she met with the officers and members of the Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI), an organization of women who are assisted by the Department of Social welfare and Development (DSWD) through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), in preparation for the Provincial Meet on October. She also discussed with them how to sustain and strengthen the organization and its operation for the benefit of more women in the municipality.

KALIPI has been very active in the campaigns for the promotion of the various programs of the government such as the reproductive health and elimination of all forms of violence against women and children.

The rest of the day, Mayor Alice conducted spot inspections on internet shops following reports of cutting classes by students who have been hooked on online games. The mayor has been worried with the reports that some students are in a habit of cutting their classes just to spend their time on playing online games or dabbling in social networking sites such as Facebook.

Most worrisome, she said, are the students who would visit pornographic sites so she appealed to the owners of internet cafes not to allow students, especially those still in uniform, to spend in their establishments during class hours. She also called on the parents to be vigilant about the potential dangers of their kids lurking on the web.

On the same note, Mayor Alice, after a spot inspection on various offices of the local government, had advised the employees to always use their time efficiently and create and maintain a productive work environment stressing that dabbling to games or social media during office hours is simply a waste of people’s money.

She warned that sanctions shall be given to employees who will be caught wasting their time with games and other work distractions like scrolling on social media.
