Who said Flag Ceremony has to be skipped when it is raining on a Monday? No, No! Not in San Nicolas 
As usual, the work week started with the Flag Ceremony led by Mayor Alice. This despite the widespread heavy rain shifts, bringing a persistently soggy forecast from PAGASA due to Habagat which spawned massive floodings in various municipalities of the province.
Because of the rain, the mayor decided to hold the ceremony inside the 1st floor of the Municipal Hall emphasizing, “Rains should not hinder us from officially starting the work week of the local government.”
She then delivered a report of what transpired on the past week giving emphasis on the accomplishments of the local government while motivating all the employees to be positive despite the weather condition underscoring, “Let us welcome the week with great enthusiasm, enormous hope and with a tank full of energy.”
The Flag Ceremony, maybe for some, is just a ceremony. But it should be given utmost importance for it reflects our love for our country and it is one of the ways to value the sacrifices of the people who died protecting and defending our country. It honors the symbol of our country and all our hopes, aspirations and dreams.
That is the reason why it was made into law. Republic Act No. 8491 otherwise known as the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines states that reverence and respect shall at all times be accorded the flag, the anthem, and other national symbols which embody the national ideals and which express the principles of sovereignty and national solidarity
All government offices, including national or local government units and institutions, shall henceforth observe the flag raising ceremonies every Monday morning and the flag lowering ceremony every Friday afternoon.
During the rest of the day, Mayor Alice, as usual, attended to various requests for financial and medical assistance as well as met with the various callers of the day. Most notable of which are the group of vendors that are affected by the “Notice to Vacate Order” which she issued in accordance with the order of the DILG to reclaim in favor of the government all public roads that have been used for private purposes. She also meets with the members of TODA who raised some concerns of the tricycle drivers plying in the town and to members of PAGBABAGO 101 who informed the mayor regarding their Alay-Lakad Project sometime in October this year.
Mayor Alice also made a round of visitations to personally observe the pace of the ongoing projects being facilitated by the local government. She was joined by former Congw. Marlyn Primicias-Agabas and the rest of the members of the council .
