Mayor Alice opened the September workweek of the Local Government of San Nicolas in a Flag Ceremony today with another “words to live by” and this time anchoring on the epic thoughts of Mother Teresa who said that “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.”

The mayor echoed the reflection to all the employees of the local government as she hopes to emphasize that not everyone can change the world in one large swoop, but rather everyone can change it through small steps together with love and small acts of kindness all the time.

“With love, let’s all work together and support one another and make San Nicolas, our home and our pride,” she said.

Before that, Mayor Alice rendered her usual report to employees the highlights of the previous weeks which significantly improved the services of the local government.

She also laid down the roadmap for reforms that is incorporated in the Executive Legislative Agenda (ELA) that will be instituted by the local government under her watch, namely: Good Governance and Transparency, Good Health and Well-Being, Clean Water and Sanitation, Educational Development, Economy and Tourism, Environmental Management and Protection, Infrastructure Development, Agricultural and Fishery Development, Maintenance of Peace and Order and Disaster Preparedness, and Youth and Sports Development.

Mayor Alice also reported the current restoration project being made for Agpay Falls which has been the subject of continued clean-up and facelift to put it again in the tourism map of the municipality.

“Well, what we have been doing is just a start-up. It’s a long way to go,” she said adding “we wish to bring back the old glory of Agpay Falls and hopefully make it again as one of our major tourism destinations.”

She said that crucial reforms shall be instituted for the restoration of Agpay Falls and the program of work is now in the hands of Councilor Raymond Prestoza who was tasked to supervise it.

Back to her office after the ceremony, Mayor Alice indulged yet again into releasing of financial and medical assistance to indigents seeking support and relief from the burden of hospitalization and the hard life. In between, Mayor Alice also attended to various callers who visited her today.

In the afternoon, Mayor Alice visited some barangays and encouraged barangay leaders to align their programs, projects and activities (PPAs) with the priorities of the local government unit.

“We urged them to, in a way, make their PPAs consistent with the priorities of the local government, specifically those that are embodied under our ELA so we can have a better partnership especially on development projects,” she noted.
