Mayor Alice was up early morning and motored to Bauang, La Union where she joined the Budget Forum on the indicative FY 2020 IRA Shares of LGUs and Guidelines on the Preparations of the FY 2020 budgets. The event focused on the updated guidelines relative to local government budgeting matters including the acquisition of government motor vehicles. She is joined by Vice Mayor Alvin Bravo and SB member Leomar Saldivar.

While at the training, the mayor has ordered for the continued inventory of equipment and resources at the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) and to make them readily available with the onset of the rainy season. She also underscored the need to tap ACDVs or Accredited Community Disaster Volunteers as force multipliers in times of disasters or calamities.

“Let’s make sure that additional warm bodies aside from rescue equipment will be available and ready to help us in the event of unfortunate circumstances that may hit us especially now that we are bracing for typhoons that are common at this time of the year,” she noted.

Relatedly, the mayor ordered the continued clean-up and pruning of tree branches at the Municipal Complex as they can be a potential cause of accident during a weather disturbance.

The clean-up team also visited the town’s cemetery yesterday to make sure that things are still in order after days of rigorous Bayanihan clean up drive which was participated by hundreds of volunteers last week.

Among other actions even while away, Mayor Alice requested an IT Team to check for the possible computerization of prescription of medicines by the Rural Health Unit. In this way, the mayor said, patients will be more knowledgeable on the prescribed medicines in addition to a faster delivery of service at the RHU.

She also instructed the staff at the Mayor’s office to support and make sure that the seminar for rice and vegetable growers of San Nicolas is held smoothly and actively participated by all the concerned sectors. The event, hosted by the town in partnership with Manila-based International Veterinary & Agrochemical, Inc., introduces high yielding technology that can be adopted by the local rice and vegetable growers to improve their crops.
