The Indigenous Peoples (IP) group called Iwak who are residing in Barangay Fianza received today the final intervention from the Department of Agriculture (DA)’s Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4K) program.

Still part of the 1.243M livelihood package from DA’s 4K program, the Iwak tribe gladly received multi-purpose cultivator, water pump and engine set, 12 pieces backpack sprayers and assorted vegetable seeds amounting to Php365,000 in total.

Last 2021, improved chickens, mallard ducks and various livelihood trainings such as mushroom production, duck production and vegetable production were also handed to the Indigenous Peoples in the town.

“This project of DA really brought help and gave fresh start to our IP communities especially those in far-flung areas. Through these various livelihood interventions, the IPs were able to generate income which lifted their status of living. With that, I convey my biggest thanks to DA Region, DA Pangasinan and NCIP – Urdaneta for bringing such timely assistance to our IPs,” Mayor Alice shared.

“And of course, to our OIC, Municipal Agriculturist, Mr. Adonis Bañaga, and his team, thank you so much for your hard works in consistently looking for possible programs which will benefit our agricultural sector,” she added.

Vice Mayor Alvin Bravo, Committee Chairman on Agriculture – Councilor Jun Serquiña, Committee Vice-chairman on Agriculture – Councilor Leomar Saldivar, Indigenous People Mandatory Representative (IPMR) – Mr. Felix Frey Lorenzo, Councilor Amorosolo Pulido, and MAO-OIC Mr. Adonis Bañaga and his staff also joined the turnover ceremony.
