The delivery of services to the people of San Nicolas never picks a day. Holiday even.

Even February 25 has been declared a non-working holiday, Mayor Alice chose to conduct an inspection of the fish cage at San Felipe West. She was joined by Municipal Councilor Jun Serquiña, OIC Municipal Agriculturist Adonis Bañaga, Mr. Christopher Serquiña, and Ms. Marissa Villanueva.

Prior to her inspection, the San Felipe East and West Irrigation Association represented by its president, Mr. Eligio Padilla, Jr., wrote Mayor Alice to seek the support of the local government unit in the repair and rehabilitation of their fish cages. Specifically, the group asked for materials needed for the repair of their existing fish cages as well as related equipment that can boost the operation of their aquaculture venture.

The use of fish cages has been a significant factor among fisherfolks in various barangays of the municipality as it has become a potential source of employment for poor farmers through the culture of marketable fish as well as in fish seed production.

Relatedly, Mayor Alice did a segway visit to the proposed site of the Fish Hatchery Project to be funded by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources through the facilitation of 6th District Congressman Tyrone Agabas.

During the day, Mayor Alice exchanged some pleasantries with DepEd officials and members of the Kapamilya Network during their exit courtesy call, ending their 3-day visit to the municipality after finishing off with their donation drive as part of the ABS-CBN Foundation’s “Gifts of Love” under DepEd’s “Adopt-a-school Program”.

Grateful of the generous contribution of the Kapamilya Network, Mayor Alice said the donation of 50 reams of coupon bonds including hygiene kits to the school beneficiaries is a great help especially at this time of the pandemic.

“We are grateful for your support and we do appreciate your efforts in getting it to us. On behalf of the San Nicolas community, please accept our warmest heartfelt thanks,” she quipped. And as a gesture of her appreciation, she gave the team a token of Pangasinan delicacies for their travel back home.

The members of the Kapamilya Network who recently visited San Nicolas include Rowena Paraan, head of ABS-CBN News & Public Service; Kori Quintos, BMPM of Bayan Mo Patrol Mo; and Buds Sayong of ABS-CBN News & Public Service.
