In most parts of the world, the lack of Personal Protective Equipment is a problem that all frontliners have to contend with, and has added to the risks that they are undergoing through every day. But not here. Not under the under the watch of a compassionate doctor-mayor.
Mayor Alice conducted a meeting today with the personnel of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) along with nurses from the Rural Health Unit and DOH-NDP to galvanize the town’s continuing efforts in the fight against COVID-19, but the occasion did not end there because they were surprised with a gift of wearable air purifier as an added protection in the performance of their day-to-day task of working in the front lines of the pandemic.
“San Nicolas is lucky indeed to have a team of hardworking frontliners who really care for our constituents, doing everything and giving their extra time and effort to be of service to our fellow San Nicolanians. They truly deserve the same compassion which is why I am personally providing them an additional safety measure for their day-to-day performance of their responsibilities. May this provide them additional encouragement as they continue to stand on the front lines dealing with the challenges arising from this health crisis,” Mayor Alice noted, adding “COVID-19 might be today’s super-villain, but it does not deter our local real-life heroes from doing their job and tirelessly working to find ways to combat the threat and eventually beat this invisible nemesis.”
The mayor’s gift is “Version 3.0 Air Purifier” which is worn around the neck and is scientifically effective in releasing negative ions called Anions to purify the air from airborne pollutants like bacteria, viruses, pollen, smoke, molds and dust mites. Since the coronavirus is a type of virus, then, in theory, the air purifier should also be able to drive the virus away.
“This is my personal gift to our local real-life heroes because I am truly humbled by their heroism in these extraordinary times. That despite the daily risks, they continue to stand by me in providing the needed life-saving support and protection to our people, even though they needed to put their own safety and well-being aside. I am deeply honored to work with this amazing team. There is not enough words to express my gratitude towards them but let it be known that I am beyond grateful for their continued dedication, commitment, and hardwork,” she noted
