A doctor is always a doctor indeed.

A weekend could mean rest and relaxation for some but for Mayor Alice who honors her Hippocratic Oath every single day of her life, nothing reminds her better of why living well matters but the time spent with her patients.

Early in the morning today, the doctor-mayor attended to her patients and spent the whole six hours with them to make the most of her time this weekend.

After her stint at the clinic, Mayor Alice personally observed the ongoing renovation of the municipal building’s façade and thereafter made a round at the Municipal Complex checking for cleanliness. She then moved to the public market to check on areas of concern and personally talked to some market occupants to always ensure cleanliness in their areas and cooperate with the drive of the local government to make the public market clean and tidy at all times.

The mayor emphasized that cleanliness is an important component of the consumer experience saying, “the more tidy and clean market we have, the more consumers will visit us and that will definitely mean good business for all occupants of the market.”

She also noted that very soon an Ordinance that will put teeth to the government’s campaign “Tapat Mo, Linis Mo” will be implemented in the municipality. “Our campaign will not remain a lip service but we will definitely install measures that will penalize violators so everybody will be on their toes.”

Meanwhile at the cemetery, personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office together with a group of Guardians supporting the mayor’s clean-up campaign did another round of pruning and grass-cutting to step up the clean-up activity, volunteering their time to fix the remaining area at the back of the cemetery.

The graveyard’s condition at this part of the cemetery had deteriorated after years of neglect as some tombs have cracked due to fallen branches.

“I am so happy that there are a lot of wonderful San Nicolanians out there who are helping our clean-up drive. I am really amazed by their efforts and continued support. Thank you all so much,” the mayor happily said.

“Yes, we cannot correct the ills of the past instantly but rest be assured that there will be an inch by inch development, inch by inch clean up, inch by inch improvement in all problematic areas of our town, and we will be very consistent and persistent on these efforts,” she vowed.

In the afternoon, another series of tryout has been conducted at the San Roque Covered Gym to efficiently evaluate Basketball players, which will represent the Municipality of San Nicolas in basketball leagues, was held as scheduled. The mayor had asked her husband, Zandro Angelo Enriquez, to supervise the tryout along with Councilor Kiko Bravo, the Sanggunian Committee Chair on Youth and Sports.

The mayor underscored that in the conduct of the tryout, extreme importance must be given in evaluating a player’s characteristics in relation to attitude, discipline, cooperation, and one that is coachable.

“We wanted to produce the best of the best but we have to inculcate among our players that Basketball is not just a physical ability and skills or showing one’s stuff, but also about discipline, empathy and respect. We have to make sure that those who will be chosen can handle everything inside and outside the court with the right attitude and grace,” she stressed.
