With the technological advancements in corn farming, farmers in this municipality will soon enjoy the kind of bountiful harvest they have never experienced before.
This was the assurance of Mayor Alice as she leads the distribution of Asian Hybrid Corn Seeds, a new superior hybrid corn genotypes that are custom-made for tropical agricultural conditions in country. The activity was a collaboration of PREC-DA-RFO 1 and the local government unit of San Nicolas that benefited 50 corn growers.
“Ang aktibidad na ito ay talagang importante para sa ating mga local corn farmers upang malaman nila na may bago ng teknolohiya na ginagamit sa pagtatanim ng mais na talagang malayo sa pangkaraniwan nilang ginagawa o sa ginagamit na traditional na buto ng mais,” ani ni Mayor Alice
Aside from having high tolerance against Asiatic corn borers, studies show that the use of Asian Hybrid Corn Seeds reduces the costs of farming since farmers will no longer need to hire more labor to manually remove weeds from the fields.
“So particularly, this high yielding variety will help them address the common challenges of the stressful environment kaya malaking tulong talaga ito sa ating mga corn growers,” Mayor Alice beamingly said.
