The local government unit of San Nicolas joins the entire nation in honoring and paying tribute to the gallant SAF 44 who sacrificed their lives during the unforgettable Mamasapano clash in Maguindanao exactly seven (7) years ago today.
Mayor Alice said the local government in coordination with Philippine National Police (PNP) San Nicolas will participate in the province-wide simultaneous ringing of church bells at three o’clock in the afternoon.
“Today we remember the heroic sacrifice of the Gallant SAF 44 who selflessly gave their lives in the line of their duty to serve and protect our countrymen. Among these 44 elite troopers was our very own Police Officer 2 Ephraim G. Mejia who joined PNP Special Action Force in 2008,” she noted.
In 2017, President Rodrigo R. Duterte issued Presidential Proclamation No. 164 declaring January 25 every year as the National Day of Remembrance as tribute to the bravery of the 44 heroes who all belong to the PNP Special Action Force (SAF).
