Seven years after the deadly Mamasapano clash, Mayor Alice paid tribute to the family of PO3 Ephraim Mejia, one of the 44 Special Action Force (SAF) troopers who died in Maguindanao on January 25, 2015.
In Brgy. Cacabugaoan, Mayor Alice visited the wife and daughter of the late SAF commando and offered them bouquet of flowers and fruit basket.
Mayor Alice also paid homage to the mother of PO3 Mejia in Brgy. Calaocan.
“The gallantry and heroism of the late PO3 Mejia is an inspiration for us to protect our people from lawless violence, criminal acts, and illegal drugs that destroy the lives and future of our younger generations,” the lady mayor said.
The family of PO3 Mejia thanked Mayor Alice for making time and effort to remember and honor Ephraim’s heroism despite her busy schedule.
In a memorandum sent to Philippine National Police camps, units, and offices nationwide, a simultaneous ringing of church bells at 3:00 PM on January 25 was encouraged as part of the police community-wide information awareness that commemorates the heroic sacrifice of gallant SAF 44.
Meanwhile, Mayor Alice received the National Anti-Drug Abuse Council Performance Award from the Department of Interior and Local Government through Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Gemil Martinez and Police Capt. George Banayos Jr.
LGU San Nicolas was recognized for its exemplary performance in complementing the national government’s anti-illegal drugs campaign by garnering a score of 90 functionality points during the 2019 performance audit.
“This award equates good governance. Let us then rally ourselves and intensify our anti-illegal drugs campaign for the benefit of the people of San Nicolas,” Mayor Alice said.
