First on the list, Mayor Alice decided to provide Grade 12 students with their own tablets that comply with technical specs and standards of DepEd. For tablets, the specs are: Quad-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 processor; a display size of 8 inches; display resolution of 800 x 1280 Pixels; storage of 32 GB; and a 4G LTE (Optional, Preferred) Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n Bluetooth network.
Mayor Alice also pledged to provide connectivity and internet access to all schools to boost the online learning requirements of their students as the education sector prepares for the new normal when school resumes on August 24, 2020.
Mayor Alice said internet access is vital as DepEd needs to adjust to new teaching modalities to suit learners, which include modular, online or distance learning, self-learning, blended learning and homeschooling.
She also vowed to provide duplicating machine to all schools for the development and reproduction of worksheets and modules. Mayor Alice said it would be costly if the modules are reproduced through printers that’s why the LGU have decided to provide the duplicating machines instead.
Mayor Alice said, “Education must be a top priority in order to build the foundations for future prosperity and quality of life. I am confident we can achieve our goals if we stay united in our steps, building better future for our learners in this highly competitive world. “
With all of these, the school heads and principals expressed their gratitude and appreciation to Mayor Alice and the whole LGU for their outstanding support to educational institutions.
