After an almost three-year halt due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, young athletes in San Nicolas got the chance to showcase their athletic talent and skills as Municipal Meet 2023 recommenced today.

Held at Sto. Tomas National High School (STNHS), the two-day sports event (February 17-18) convened sports aficionados from eight participating schools: San Nicolas National HIGH School, Sta. Maria National High School, San Isidro National High School, San Rafael National High School, San Felipe Integrated School, Dalumpinas National High School, and STNHS, the host school.

In her message, Mayor Alice stressed the importance of sports as it teaches students many important life lessons—discipline, focus, dedication, hard work, commitment, and teamwork.

“Don’t focus on winning or losing, but value sportsmanship. The goal in sportsmanship is not simply to win, but to pursue victory with honor by giving one’s best effort,” the town executive said.

Mayor Alice was joined by Vice Mayor Alvin Bravo, Mun. Coun. Jairus Thom Dulay, ABC President Jason Ramirez, PSDS Renato Umipig, and school heads Dr. Domingo Dismaya II, Anita Suyat, Rowena Suyat, Moises Barroga, Darmer Aquino, Dr. Rolando Cacayan, and MAPEH Head Rocky Macazo.

The lady mayor concluded that Municipal Meet 2023 is a testament to San Nicolas’ commitment to promoting sports and youth development.
