As part of the Children’s Month celebration, the Local Government of San Nicolas thru the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) conducted the Annual Children’s Congress 2019 on Tuesday, November 12 at the San Nicolas Multi-Purpose Hall and Civic Center.

The activity was participated in by five hundred thirty-five (535) children with their parents from the thirty-three (33) barangays of the town led by Municipal Mayor Alicia Primicias-Enriquez. Also present are Municipal Vice-Mayor Alvin O. Bravo, Municipal Officials, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, Barangay Officials, Child Development Workers, and other stakeholders.

In her message, Mayor Alice thanked all the participants for their support. She also expressed gratitude to UNILAB for sending a Tiki-tiki Mascot that caused children’s smiles and laughs, MX3 Company for the free coffee and giveaways, and all sponsors in cash or in kind.

“It takes a village to raise a child. Let us all work together to end these violence against children so that they will become productive citizens. Let us all push for positive parenting and positive discipline,” Mayor Alice said during the program.

The celebration of the “National Children’s Month” is pursuant to Republic Act No. 10661 otherwise known as the “National Children’s Month Act” and is celebrated every November.

Activities lined up by the local government for this year’s celebration include: Singing Contest, Draw and Tell, Dance Contest, Basketball, Catching Ball, Sack Race, Soccer, Truck and Field and Puzzle Game.

With the theme, “Karapatang Pambata: Patuloy na Pahalagahan at Gampanan Tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan,” this year’s celebration aims to recognize the gains and successes of the Philippines in the promotion and protection of children’s rights.
