In honor of San Nicolas de Tolentino, the patron of the souls in Purgatory, the Municipality of San Nicolas celebrated his feast day, reminiscing his preachings which brought many to Christ and his spirit of prayer, penance, austerity of life, and devotion to the Holy Souls.

The celebration started with a solemn procession of his image and then followed by the celebration of the mass which was attended by a thousand fold devotees of the patron saint including Cong. Marlyn Primicias–Agabas, Mayor Alice, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, representatives from the different LGU departments, and priests from the different parishes of the diocese.

In his homily, the mass presider, Bishop Jacinto Jose, DD., gave an inspiring homily to the crowd of faithful devotees of St. Nicolas where he laid emphasis on one’s lasting legacy like St. Nicholas of Tolentine who was full of charity towards his Augustinian brothers as well as towards the people to whom he ministered—the sick, the needy, and even those who had fallen away from the Church.

The feast day concluded with a blessing of the statue and bread of St. Nicolas. This dual blessing symbolized both reverence for the saint and a commitment to the values he stood for.
