The Department of Health (DOH) recognized the efforts and commended the Municipality of San Nicolas for its commitment and valuable role during the COVID-19 vaccine deployment and campaign from March to December 2021.

“Your perseverance and dedication to protect your constituents, employees, clients, vulnerable population, and the community are beyond the call of normal duties during this time of pandemic,” DOH Center for Health Development Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco stated.

Ranked second in the provincial level, San Nicolas recorded 92 percent accomplishment in its first dose in the vaccination rollout and 84 percent accomplishment for its fully vaccinated constituents.

Mayor Alice said the award is a manifestation of the local government’s success in disseminating information on the benefits of getting vaccinated. “We have been encouraging our constituents to get vaccinated through our information education campaign in the barangay level since 2021. For San Nicolanians who belong to vulnerable population and living in far-flung areas, we bring the vaccines on their doorstep,” she added.

Meanwhile, Mayor Alice conveyed her gratitude to the vaccination team for their collaborative efforts in the successful roll-out of the vaccines.

“I give all the credit to my technical working group: Municipal Health Office led by Dr. Francis Lawrence Subido, MDRRMO led by Mr. Ramon Caldez, nurses under the DOH’s Nurse Deployment Program (NDPs), municipal and barangay officials, Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), members of the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERT), and also to the utility workers and job orders”, she expressed.

“I am also thankful to all of you, my beloved Kailyans, who answered my call to attend this noble campaign. Thank you for doing your part and thank you for giving us your trust”, Mayor Alice expressed.

Mayor Alice reminded those who are still hesitant to be vaccinated, “Getting a COVID-19 vaccination is a safer way to build protection than getting sick with the virus. Vaccination helps protect you by creating an antibody response without you having to experience sickness.”

“Achieving herd immunity is now closer to reality,” the lady mayor proudly said. As of this writing, San Nicolas recorded 97 percent accomplishment in its first dose in the vaccination rollout with 92 percent fully vaccinated individuals.
