Launched on February 20, 2024, the anti-rabies vaccination campaign of the local government unit of San Nicolas produced substantial report with a total of 2,737 pets vaccinated from the launching date up to March 22, 2024.

“As of this writing, we were able to vaccinate a total of 2,737 pets. Labing pitong (17) barangay na ang ating natapos kabilang na ang mga barangay ng San Roque (396), Sobol (139), San Felipe East (291), San Felipe West (149), Malilion (150), Cabuloan (138), Camangaan (51), Sto. Tomas (76), Camindoroan (51), Calanutian (68), San Rafael West (141), San Rafael Centro (129), San Rafael East (181), Nining (87), Siblot (343), San Jose (222), and Poblacion West (125),” Mayor Alice reported.

“Of the total number of pets vaccinated, 2,171 were dogs while the remaining 566 were cats. The Office of the Municipal Agriculture headed by Engr. Christopher Serquiña, served a total of 1,238 responsible pet owners,” added Mayor Alice.

The pet vaccination program led by Mr. Adonis M. Bañaga is part of the effort of the local government to control rabies infection in the town in accordance with Republic Act 9482 otherwise known as the Anti-Rabies Act of 2007, or an Act providing for the control and elimination of human and animal rabies all over the country.

“I would like to thank both the Municipal Agriculture Office personnel and all responsible pet owners belonging to the these 17 barangays for their collaborative efforts in keeping San Nicolas a rabies-free municipality,” Mayor Alice concluded.
